We achieved a second grant under the Building Better Community (BBC) funding scheme after the relandscaping of the Ponds. We used this to create a set of 3 Village trail walks around Farndon and the Ponds Nature Reserve. The money allowed us to "plant" a series of trail posts around the Village. Coloured bands on these posts guide walkers on different length circuits. The routes are explained on a Village Trails mapboard that is placed at the riverside next to the Village picnic area. As we anticipated increased footfall around the ponds site, following 2 of the planned trails, we also purchased and placed new litter bins around the site. The Parish Council supported the initiative by agreeing to the ongoing emptying of these new bins. There is also a Village trails leaflet that is available in local shops and explains the history of the Village and the ponds site.
