St Peters School - Sensory Garden.

In 2006, we were delighted to be invited by the school to plan and landscape this wonderful project.

The aim was to build a graden of "different experiences"
for the children.

Mixing different surfaces - bark, chippings, slates, gravel and soil.

Mixing different plants and trees.

Creating contemplation areas - quiet places to sit, willow tunnels to run through with friends.

Exciting with light, shade and water.

What a glorious opportunity to introduce young hearts to the joy of nature.

The school ran  a design competition and we pooled the best ideas.

Parents & teachers helped.

British sugar donated tons of soil that we moved in convoys of trucks and wheel barrowed to site.

We created the great curved bank garden, the paths and platforms.

Donations helped keep costs to an incrdible minimum compared to original quotes.

Take a look at it NOW!!

It has exceeded our wildest imaginings.

It is in use every day by the kids.

Louis Ashcroft, a member at the time, continues to maintain the flowers to this day.
