Village Location
On the river bank, near the Ferry Restaurant car park, at the start of the Village Trail.
Photographers comments:
Martin Hill, of Farndon Parish Council, is pictured with Amy Wadsworth. Amy is one of the children from the Village's St Peter's Primary school. Her excellent illustration won first prize in a F.R.E.G competition and is now immortalised as part of the mapboard.
Historic Notes:
The Village trail was one of the first projects for F.R.E.G. All of the footpaths in and around Farndon & Thorpe have now been identified and surveyed.
Regular maintenance work is undertaken to keep the footpaths open and properly way marked.
The erection of the riverside map board was the culmination of all the activities in preparing the Village trail.
Here we see proud F.R.E.G members "planting" the map board which was created by local craftsman Mr Bill Farr.
As well as the mapboard a leaflet has been produced which details two short walks around the 'Old Village' and countryside of Farndon Parish.
Copies of the leaflet can be obtained, free of charge, from the shops and pubs in Farndon. We hope you enjoy the peaceful walks around our beautiful Village as much as we do. Happy trails!
