Farndon Ponds Nature Reserve.

We started our first work on this project in 2001 and it keeps us busy every year.

We are incredibly fortunate to have this area of outstanding natural beauty literally on our doorsteps.

The site is now a recognised nature reserve.
11 acres of wetland.

Supporting a bio-diversity of wildlife and fauna.
F.R.E.G is very proud to be able to support the Parish Council in the maintenance and enhancement of the site.

Thanks to the foresight of the Parish Council the site was purchased for the Village in November 2000 and is now in their care.

Most in the Village can reach the site within a few minutes walk from their homes.

The Parish Council adopted our Maintenance plan plan several years ago. Our regular work groups follow this plan and focus activities on balancing the environmental needs of the site with improvements to local access and education.

The group were awarded £20,000 of funding from the Notts County Council Building Better Communities (BBC) program in 2005.

This money was used improve access for all to the site, provide educational interpretive boards explaining the sites attractions and to continue with our program of maintenance works.

We have planted extensively around the site as part of our ongoing tree planting program - funding from the British Tree Council grant scheme helping greatly.

Some of the heavier work has seen us clearing completely overgrown areas that have been badly choked. New growth has been encouraged by strategic clearances and replanting.
